What Makes a Great Hat
Share
People ask us this a lot. And the honest answer is: not very much. A great hat gets out of the way. It fits right from the first wear. It doesn't call attention to itself — it just sits there, solid, comfortable, doing exactly what it's supposed to do, day after day, year after year.
What makes that possible is the stuff most brands skip. The canvas weight. The foam density in the sweatband. The tension of the snapback spring. The height of the crown in relation to the brim. None of these things show up in product photos. All of them show up the third time you reach for the same hat instead of any of the others.
A few things we care about:
- Material honesty. Washed cotton canvas ages into character. Mesh breathes when it's hot. We don't use material that pretends to be something it isn't.
- Structure that holds. A structured cap should stay structured. Not collapse after six months on your dashboard.
- Fit range that actually works. One size should mean one size. We design to fit comfortably from about 54cm to 60cm, and our adjusters actually adjust.
Our first collection is built around these principles. More drops coming as we get the details right.
Because that's the only way worth doing it.
